Hometown Hero of the Week: Garrett Joyner, August 30th, 2023

Our QDR Hometown Hero of the Week is Garrett Joyner, a firefighter for the Youngsville and the Northern Wake Fire Departments.

“Garrett was presented with a certificate by his peers back in 2018 during his senior year of high school that declared him “Most Likely to Become a Hero,” and that is exactly what he has become in the eyes of so many.  Through the Wake County Fire Academy, Garrett found his purpose and passion in Fire Service. He is currently serving full time as a Firefighter for the Wake Forest Fire Department, while also serving in part time roles with the Youngsville Fire Department, as well as the Northern Wake Fire Department. Garrett has an unbelievable work ethic and strives daily to better himself, as well the department and community he is serving.  He continues to gain knowledge in his field by attending numerous trainings, as well as working towards a degree in Emergency Management from Nash Community College.  In addition to all of the above responsibilities, he works out daily at the gym while still finding time for family and friends, as well as casting a fishing line from time to time. Although he will tell you he is just spending his days doing what he loves, he simply amazes me as well as others and truly is a Hometown Hero!”

Thank you, Garrett, for your service! As a token of our appreciation, we’re sending you a $50 gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do.
