Hometown Hero of the Week

Hometown Hero of the Week: Stephen Young, April 16th, 2025

Hometown Hero of the Week: Stephen Young, April 16th, 2025

Our QDR Hometown Hero of the week is Stephen Young, Captain with the Garner Fire Department.

Stephen was nominated by his daughter Caitlin, who says, “My father is passionate about his career, he is hardworking, determined, always looking for way to improve, and he loves helping others. He’s the best dad to my 2 sisters and I. He’s there when we need help, whether it’s car maintenance, advice, handy man, or just need to talk. He’s a restless soul and even when he’s off from work he is always doing something, there’s never an off day for him. I want to recognize him on a bigger level rather than the usual “thank you dad”. I think him hearing a nomination would be unique to him and I know he’d appreciate it greatly.” Stephen has spent 20 years with the Garner Fire Department and over 34 years total in fire service!

Thank you, Stephen, for your service! As a token of our appreciation, we’re sending you a $50 gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do.
