Hometown Hero of the Week

Hometown Hero of the Week: Jacob Byrd, April 23rd, 2025

Hometown Hero of the Week: Jacob Byrd, April 23rd, 2025

Our QDR Hometown Hero of the week is Jacob Byrd, Firefighter/EMT for Clayton Fire Department and the Four Oaks Fire Department.

Jacob has three jobs. He is a Firefighter/EMT for Clayton Fire Department and Four Oaks Fire Department, as well as a local landscaper. He has three children, who he loves more than life itself. He has been with his wife for six years and is an incredible husband and role model. At 16, Jacob was hit by a car and almost killed. They did not think he would be able to walk again. He pushed through and pushed himself to regain all of his strength. Now, at 26 years old, he has dedicated himself to caring for the community in multiple ways. He has a heart of gold and is a true serviceman. Jacob worked 12-hour days landscaping and went to 4-hour fire classes at night to achieve his dream of becoming a certified fireman, now about to start on the path of becoming a Driver/Operator for his fire career. Jacob is also on the volunteer side of the fire industry with Four Oaks, running calls from home to further assist the community.

Thank you, Jacob, for your service! As a token of our appreciation, we’re sending you a $50 gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do.
