Our QDR Hometown Hero of the Week is Kevin Spivey Sr., School Resource Officer with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
For more than two decades, Sgt. Spivey has been a pillar of dedication, leadership, and compassion in our community, serving as a School Resource Officer with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. His commitment to bridging the gap between law enforcement and our youth is not just a job—it’s a calling.
Throughout his 20 years of service, Sgt. Spivey has worked at every educational level, from elementary schools to high schools, serving in leadership roles, teaching the G.R.E.A.T. program, and promoting campus safety and discipline. For the past eight years, he has supervised multiple school campuses, with his primary post at Deep River Elementary School. Each morning, you’ll find him at the car line, warmly greeting students by name and starting their day with a smile—a small act that speaks volumes about his devotion to building trust and relationships with the young people he serves.
His presence on campus is more than symbolic; it’s impactful. Sgt. Spivey actively works to reduce school violence through visibility, student engagement, and preventative education. He informs students about the dangers of substance abuse, introduces programs that reinforce positive behavior, and acts as a role model for respect, integrity, and accountability.
Thank you, Kevin, for your service! As a token of our appreciation, we’re sending you a $50 gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do.
