Hometown Hero of the Week: Ben Ormiston, August 7th, 2024

Hometown Hero of the Week: Ben Ormiston, August 7th, 2024

Our QDR Hometown Hero of the Week is Ben Ormiston, Investigator at the Wake County Sheriff’s Office.

Ben was nominated by his wife Amanda who says, “Ben works for the Wake County Sheriff’s Office as an Investigator, but started in corrections moved to patrol and now is an in his current role. He is also on Wake SO’s Special Forces Boat Team. He deserves to be recognized as hometown hero of the week, because he is humble, yet courageous, has integrity, but is selfless. Ben often works long hours and puts in tireless effort to ensure he treats everyone with dignity and respect. Unfortunately, Ben was on scene with the unfathomable and untimely death of Deputy Ned Byrd in 2022. This took a toll on him but he didn’t stop. He became a peer mentor for Wake SO and now helps other Deputies that need support with stressful events or scenes they may have been on. He is honest and has a strong moral character which he instills in our children. Last year, he was recognized as Departmental Officer of the Year! I am so proud to be his wife and to watch him continue to serve and protect our community. We love you!”

Thank you, Ben, for your service! As a token of our appreciation, we’re sending you a $50 gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do.

Hometown Hero is brought to you by First Horizon Bank.
