Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs paid to hide Cassie beating video because he feared career ruin, witness says

NEW YORK (AP) — A former hotel security guard has testified that Sean “Diddy” Combs feared his iconic career would be ruined if the public ever saw a video of him beating his girlfriend in 2016. The security guard testified Tuesday at Combs’ federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial. Eddy Garcia told a federal court jury that Combs repeatedly made the comment as he was trying to buy what he hoped was the only copy of the video. Prosecutors say Combs’ persistent efforts to hush up the episode fit into allegations he used threats and his fortune and fame to get what he wanted. Combs has pleaded not guilty.… Continue Reading

MrBeast aims to raise millions for his charity by offering a weekend experience to six-figure donors

NEW YORK (AP) — MrBeast plans to turn the success of his Amazon Prime Video reality competition series into millions of dollars for charity. Donaldson says: “I have some big charity projects I want to fund so I think it’s a win/win.”… Continue Reading

Ukraine’s drone attack on Russian warplanes was a serious blow to the Kremlin’s strategic arsenal

Ukraine’s drone attack on Russian warplanes was a serious blow to the Kremlin’s strategic arsenal

A surprise Ukrainian drone attack that targeted Russian air bases hosting nuclear-capable strategic bombers was unprecedented in its scope and sophistication, and dealt a heavy blow to the Russian military. Ukraine said more than 40 bombers were damaged or destroyed Sunday. That’s about a third of Russia’s strategic fleet. The Russian military said only several planes were damaged. The conflicting claims couldn’t be independently verified. But the bold attack demonstrated Ukraine’s capability to hit high-value targets anywhere on Russian territory, dealing a humiliating blow to the Kremlin and inflicting significant losses to Moscow’s arsenal in the 3-year-old war.… Continue Reading

US job openings rose in April, signaling resilience in the American labor market

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. job openings rose unexpectedly in April, showing that the labor market remains resilient in the face of uncertainty arising from President Donald Trump’s trade wars. The Labor Department reported Tuesday that employers posted 7.4 million job vacancies in April, up from 7.2 million in March. Economists had expected opening to drift down to 7.1 million. But the number of Americans quitting their job — a sign of confidence in their prospects — fell, and layoffs ticked higher. Openings remain high by historical standards but have dropped sharply since peaking at 12.1 million in March 2022 when the economy was still roaring back COVID-19 lockdowns.… Continue Reading

Cameron Young rallies for US Open spot on a long day of qualifying for Oakmont

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Cameron Young is among 47 players who earned a spot in the U.S. Open on a long day of qualifiers from coast to coast. Young birdied three of his last four holes to get into a five-man playoff for one spot in Ohio. He birdied the first hole to bump out Rickie Fowler and Max Homa. Homa split with his caddie and wound up going 38 holes carrying his own bag. The qualifier from Atlanta include 17-year-old high school junior Mason Howell, who went 36 holes without a bogey. Matt Vogt, who is a dentist, led the two qualifiers in Washington state.… Continue Reading
