Our QDR Hometown Hero of the Week is Lee Fowler, a member of Harnett County’s EMS Service for 43 years!
His nominator said:
“Lee Fowler is truly deserving of the 94.7 QDR Hometown Hero Award for dedicating more than 40 years of his life to serving Harnett County and surrounding communities. He began volunteering in public safety at only 15 years old and became Harnett County EMS’s first part-time employee in 1985. Since then, he has served as an EMT, paramedic, critical care paramedic, shift supervisor, instructor, fire service member, EMS chief, and Assistant Chief of Operations.
Lee has worked under every medical director and EMS chief in Harnett County EMS history, giving him an unmatched amount of knowledge and experience. However, what makes him truly special is his heart. He is a mentor, a devoted leader, and the kind of person who will do anything he can to help you, your family, or even your pets. He is hardworking, funny, kindhearted, and always knows how to make people smile.
Even after advancing into leadership, Lee has never forgotten where he came from and continues to ride the ambulance and serve patients directly. EMS is more than his career—it has been his life’s calling. As his retirement from Harnett County EMS approaches on December 1, recognizing Lee as a Hometown Hero would be a fitting way to honor his lifetime of service, sacrifice, and dedication to others.”
Lee, as a token of our appreciation, we’re sending you a $50 gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do!
