Our QDR Goldstar Teacher of the Month is Amber Swanson, a 4th-grade teacher at LaFayette Year Round School.
Her nominator said: “I am thrilled to nominate Mrs. Swanson for Gold Star Teacher of the Month. She consistently goes above and beyond for her students, demonstrating a deep commitment to both their academic and personal growth.
Mrs. Swanson is always seeking creative and engaging ways to teach her fourth-grade class. Her lessons go far beyond the standard curriculum—she incorporates meaningful life lessons that help shape her students into responsible, kind, and accountable individuals. Her classroom is a place where students not only learn math, reading, and science, but also the importance of being respectful, working hard, and believing in themselves.
Just one of many examples of her passion for teaching was when she identified a student (my daughter) who was struggling with reading. Mrs. Swanson took the time to work one-on-one with her, focusing on the student’s specific learning needs, offering creative suggestions to help her learn and enjoy reading. Mrs. Swanson helped her not only improve her test scores but also achieve a passing grade. Beyond academics, this experience instilled in the student self-confidence and a valuable life lesson that hard work does pay off.
Mrs. Swanson is always serving as her student’s biggest advocate and champion, making her a truly deserving candidate for this recognition.”
Thank you, Mrs. Swanson, for your constant support of your students! Ms. Swanson will receive $100 to Kanki Steak and Sushi and a plaque from our friends at Creative Images.
