94.7 QDR is proud to partner with Chapman’s Construction to help a veteran in need. Thanks to Chapman’s, Mr. Bobbie Jones is getting a new roof for his home. Follow the journey here, on our socials @947WQDR, and of course, on the radio. Mr. Jones is an honorable Vietnam War Veteran who served his country with distinction in the United States Army Airborne as a Sergeant (E-5) and is the recipient of the following awards:
• Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm
• The Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars
• The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device
These honors signify not only his bravery, but also his commitment to duty under extremely challenging and dangerous conditions.
During his time in service, Mr. Jones was exposed to Agent Orange, a factor that has had a lasting impact on his health. Additionally, like many who served in combat, he has endured Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) because of his experiences. Despite these hardships, Mr. Jones has demonstrated remarkable strength, resilience, and perseverance throughout his life.
Over the years, he has faced significant medical challenges, including surviving cancer and recovering from serious physical injuries, including fractures to both hips, his arm, and his leg. Yet, even in the face of these obstacles, he has continued to press forward with determination and dignity.
Now at the age of 82, Mr. Jones remains a testament to resilience. However, given his age, medical history, and service-related conditions, additional support and assistance are both appropriate and necessary to ensure his continued well-being and quality of life.
His service to our country, combined with the sacrifices he has made and continues to endure, make him more than deserving of support.
