Our QDR Gold Star teacher of the month for April is Peaches Findlay at North Wake College and Career Academy!
Ms. Findlay was nominated by Melissa Krassy who says, “Ms. Findlay taught both of my children, and they have nothing but positive things to say about her. Ms. Findlay was my daughter’s AP Bio teacher, and she went above and beyond to make sure that she understood the content inside and out, to present the information to the students in a way that would be meaningful and result in high AP test scores and true learning. My daughter still references Ms. Findlay and how well she knew her content area, but also what a caring, sincere, good-hearted teacher she is. Ms. Findlay wants her students to succeed and have a strong science foundation to better appreciate the world around them. She is so patient and took the time to make sure that my daughter not only just got an answer correct but understood why it was correct. She has a very inclusive environment that is safe for all learners to feel comfortable enough to ask questions and even challenge her to dig deeper into content together. She is not afraid to learn with the children and always put them and their learning first. She shows them there is always more to learn, even for her with how incredibly knowledgeable she is in her content area. Ms. Findlay is a working mother and athlete, who always gives her best to her personal family and school family. She models how to value self-worth, life skills, and acceptance in her classroom. She teaches so much more than a structured curriculum. I am truly grateful that my children were able to form a strong teacher-student relationship with her. She not only taught them both science, but also taught them responsibility, organization, goal setting, striving to always improve, and to challenge the world around them for the sake of making it a better place. As a current Wake County teacher myself, I know and value an incredible teacher when I see one. Ms. Findlay deserves the honor of being the QDR Gold Star Teacher of The Month.
