Those eyes! ❤️ It’s hard to look at Katrina without immediately noticing her absolutely stunning grey-blue eyes. Add in her gorgeous brindle coat, sweet white chest, and long legs, and this 60-pound young adult hound mix is definitely a showstopper. But there’s so much more to this beautiful girl than her good looks!
Katrina has a gentle, sensitive soul and can be timid when meeting new people or finding herself in unfamiliar situations. She isn’t the kind of dog who will run up and immediately introduce herself to everyone she meets. Instead, she likes to hang back, take everything in, and decide when she feels safe enough to let her guard down. She’ll do best with a patient person who understands that trust takes time and is willing to let her settle in at her own pace.
Give her that time, though, and you’ll discover an incredibly sweet girl who wants to be part of the action! Katrina enjoys spending time in the backyard with her big-dog foster siblings and gets along well with other dogs. She also seems to do just fine with cats. She walks nicely on a leash and seems to be potty trained when kept on a schedule. She sleeps through the night, too! Crates aren’t her favorite thing, and she has proved herself quite capable of bending the bars of a less sturdy crate, so she may do best with a little more freedom once she’s settled into her new home. She’s also working on keeping her nose out of tempting countertop treasures. Katrina is a particularly sensitive girl, and she responds best to kindness, patience, and gentle guidance as she learns what’s expected of her.
Katrina would love a home where she can settle in without being rushed or expected to be brave before she’s ready. A calm, reassuring person who can help her build confidence and show her that the world isn’t such a scary place would be just what she needs. With kindness, consistency, and plenty of love, we think she’ll continue to blossom and show more and more of the wonderful dog hiding inside.
This beautiful girl may not give her heart away the moment you meet her, but that’s part of what will make earning it so special. If you have a soft spot for shy, sensitive pups and are willing to give Katrina the time she needs to feel safe, you just might find yourself with an incredibly sweet and loyal friend. And really… how could you possibly say no to those eyes?
Sleepover Host Feedback: “Katrina was such a joy to have over the weekend! She was great with our kids, cats and other dog. She had no accidents in the house and slept well all night. She obviously has not spent much time indoors and was a little afraid of the hardwood floors, and was terrified of getting in the car, but once inside the car, she did great! If we were in the market for a second dog right now, she would be a top contender!”
