Our QDR Hometown Hero of the week is Lem Ivey, a firefighter on the Fayetteville Fire Department!
His nominator said:
“My dad is the definition of a hometown hero. He has served his community by being on the Fayetteville Fire Department. He was hired July 10, 1985. He will retire May 27, 2026.
He has also served on the Westarea Fire Department for many years before being hired on the Fayetteville Fire Dept. He worked as a 911 operator and rode an ambulance before being hired with Fayetteville FD. As children, we spent many holidays and birthdays at the fire department. They call my dad “The Legend,” and he deserves to be recognized. Captain Lem Ivey, he still rides the truck with all the young guys and loves his crew of guys like his family. We love him and appreciate him so much. We thank him for all the sacrifices made to serve his community. Thanks dad. You’ve always been our hero!”
