Our QDR Hometown Hero of the week is Brian Davis, who served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps for 8.5 years! Since his military service he has continued to serve as a corrections officer for the last 10 years, and is also a Captain for the Honor Guard at his department!
“I am writing to nominate my husband, Brian Davis, for the Hometown Hero. His unwavering dedication and contributions to our community, along with his distinguished service, make him truly deserving of this recognition.
Brian honorably served 8.5 years in the United States Marine Corps, where he developed a strong sense of duty and leadership. Following his military service, he has dedicated the last 10 years to the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. Currently, he serves as the Captain on the Honor Guard team for the department, a role that allows him to lead with honor and integrity.
One of the most remarkable examples of his heroism occurred recently when we stopped to help a woman who was overdosing on medications on the side of the road. Without hesitation, Brian took charge of the situation, providing assistance and ensuring she received the help she needed.
Beyond his acts of service, Brian is known for his kindness, leadership, and dedication. He honors families and fallen members of Corrections with the Honor Guard team by presenting flags and showing respect at their funeral services, a solemn duty he carries out with the utmost respect and compassion.
Additionally, Brian has made a significant impact by coaching youth sports, including basketball and football, where he mentors young athletes and instills values of teamwork and perseverance. Whether it’s coaching or simply helping neighbors in need, he always goes above and beyond to make a positive difference.
His commitment to serving others has left a lasting impact on our town and our family, and I believe he truly embodies the spirit of a hometown hero. Being the Hometown Hero would be a wonderful recognition of his contributions and inspire others to follow in his footsteps.
I’m proud to call Brian my husband and our hometown hero.”
Brian, as a token of our appreciation, we’re sending you a $50 gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do!
