Our QDR Hometown Hero of the week is Chuck Alford, who is retired from the NC State Highway Patrol with 30 years of service, plus an additional 10 years with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. Chuck is also a volunteer fire fighter, serving as Captain of the Strickland’s Crossroads Fire Department.
Chuck was nominated by Danielle Richardson, who says, “I’d like to nominate my dad as 94.7 QDR’s Hometown Hero of the Week. He has spent his entire life serving and protecting others. After proudly retiring from the NC State Highway Patrol with 30 years of service, he continued giving back through an additional 10 years with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. Beyond law enforcement, he has volunteered countless hours with local fire departments and currently serves as Captain of the Strickland’s Crossroads Fire Department, where he was honored as the 2024 Firefighter of the Year. He also spent a week in Black Mountain serving that community after Hurricane Helene. More than his titles, he is a devoted husband, father, and “Pa” who pours his heart into both his family and his community. His selflessness, integrity, and dedication to others make him the true definition of a Hometown Hero.”
Thank you, Jeff, for your service! As a token of our appreciation, we’re sending you a $50 gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do.
