Our QDR Hometown Hero of the week is Nathan Matherly, North Carolina State Trooper.
Nathan was nominated by his sister, Amanda, who says, “My 6-year-old daughter Kinsley, my two-year-old son Kayden, and I listen to 94.7 on our way to school every morning. When we were listening about the Hometown Hero, Kinsley said she wanted to nominate her uncle Nate. So, I’m here to do it for her.
Nathan became a veteran from the United States Marine Corps this past October. He currently serves as a North Carolina State Trooper. Kinsley looks up to him so much and wants to be just like him when she grows up.
When Nathan was in boot camp for the Marines, I was pregnant with Kinsley. Nathan didn’t get to meet Kinsley until she was about 2-3 months old. When he met her and held her for the first time, he looked at her and she looked at him like they already knew each other from the “get go.”
Nathan would do anything for anyone (especially his 5 nieces & 1 nephew). He deserves to be recognized as a Hometown Hero because of his love, respect, and willingness to go out and put his life on the line for all of those who need it! He has never once had any doubts about being in the front lines.
I personally want him to know that we love him so much and that he is our hero and that he always will be… no matter what!”
Thank you, Nathan, for your service! As a token of our appreciation, we’re sending you a $50 gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do.
