Our QDR Hometown Hero of the week is Jamey Roberts, firefighter for the Lillington Fire Department in Harnett County.
Jamey was nominated by Courtney Kniffen, who says, “When I was 8 years old, my mom moved her and I from Florida to NC to start a new life with a man we didn’t know we needed. He fixed pieces of our hearts that we thought were shattered forever. He welcomed me in with open arms and never saw me as anything different than his daughter. My “bonus” dad works tirelessly around the clock to service our community. He is loved by all those that know him. He would literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it and requires nothing in return but self-satisfaction of a job well done. I have watched from a young age what kind of toll being a full-time firefighter can have (the good, the bad, and the ugly), but he handles it with grace and bravery every single day. He is my hero, not just today, but every day. I would love for him to know just how special he is and that is why I am nominating him. My 3-year-old daughter is really into superheroes right now and I can’t wait for her to realize that her Papa is a real-life superhero and a true hometown hero.”
Thank you, Jamey, for your service! As a token of our appreciation, we’re sending you a $50 gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do.
