Our QDR Hometown Hero of the week for 1-14-26 is Kim Radewicz, Park Ranger at Eno River State Park.
My mother has worked in state parks for 12 years, 4 of which were spent at Falls Lake and the rest at Eno River State Park. My mom has worked so hard the past few weeks trying to get Eno back to normal after the huge flood we had on July 6th. Since the flood, there was a day that she worked for 24 hours straight. She’s the superintendent of the park so she has an extremely demanding role. She spends most of her time helping others, directing traffic, having controlled burns, hiking, and many other things. She currently is working on clearing trails and areas of debris to make the park safe for visitors. She is also a hard-working mother. Even though she has to put in a lot of time in at work, she is the biggest role model I have, and I care about her so much. Not only is she a mother, but she is also a dedicated wife to my dad. He means the world to her, and she really cares for him. She brightens up the room when she walks in and always knows how to make me feel better. Even with her hard work schedule, she somehow finds a way to take me to school (which is 40-60 minutes away). She is really dedicated to her family and loves her job. She loves being outside, taking care of animals and people, and brings a smile to my face whenever I see her.
Thank you, Kim, for your service! As a token of our appreciation, we’re sending you a $50 gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do.
