Our QDR Hometown Hero of the week for 12-31-25 is Chase Parrott, Active-Duty Reserves in the Navy, FF/EMT for Durham FD and Roxboro FD, and Deputy in Granville County.
On Monday, June 16, 2025, Granville County 911 received a call about a single vehicle accident on Cornwall Road in the vicinity of Henry Wilson Road. Reports indicated that there was one person entrapped inside the vehicle. Deputy C. Parrott and Chief F. Griffin were patrolling in the area and responded swiftly to the location of the traffic crash.
Upon arrival, deputies found one person slumped over in the vehicle. The patient was confirmed to be entrapped and severely injured. Deputy C. Parrott, a trained firefighter and Advanced-EMT, crawled inside the mangled vehicle through a busted rear window. Once inside the vehicle, Deputy Parrott assessed the patient’s injuries and ensured the patient had a patent airway.
The patient was disoriented and suffering from multiple traumas. Deputy Parrott maintained spinal stabilization and completed a quick primary patient assessment for additional life-threatening injuries. The findings of his patient assessment were passed on to arriving EMS personnel. The Granville Rural Vol. Fire Department used chainsaws to clear away a downed tree to allow firefighters access to the vehicle to extricate the patient using specialized rescue tools. The patient was extracted from the vehicle and care was transferred to Paramedics with Granville Health.
This was a collaborated effort by all responders on scene to ensure the best patient outcome.
Thank you, Chase, for your service! As a token of our appreciation, we’re sending you a $50 gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do.
