Our QDR Hometown Hero of the week is Chief Scott Daniel, recently retired Division Chief for the Fuquay-Varina.
Division Chief Scott Daniel was nominated by Dana Johnson who says, “I have had the honor to work Scott for almost 22 years and I don’t know anyone more deserving of this award. On April 28, 2023, Scott will be hanging up his turnout gear for the last time with thirty-three years of service to the Fuquay-Varina Fire Department and the citizens of the Town of Fuquay-Varina. He began his career as a volunteer with our department in 1990, was hired as one of our department’s first five full-time paid employees in 1993, and after working his way up the ranks, was promoted to his current position of Division Chief in 2019. Scott was born and raised in Fuquay-Varina and has dedicated his life to protecting the citizens in the place he still calls home. Scott is the first one to congratulate you on a job well done and the first one to reach out to check on you to see if you need anything when you are sick or injured. As the Division Chief over Training and Logistics, he is responsible for making sure our staff has the training they need to protect our community and to make sure they go home to their families at the end of every shift. Scott and his wife, Jennifer, have raised two amazing children, Will and Colby. He is a Christian and is an active member of their church. He works hard at the fire department and is usually one of the first ones to report to work each day. Scott not only has the respect of our fire department staff, but he is also a respected member of our Fuquay-Varina community.” Chief Scott Daniel, along with everyone here at 94.7 QDR, we would like to thank you for your service to our community and we wish you a happy retirement.
