Our QDR Hometown Hero of the week is Caleb Thompson, Fireman at the Fuquay-Varina Fire Department.
Caleb was nominated by Teresa Gardner, who says, “Caleb has wanted to be fireman since he was a little boy. His mom has a picture on her refrigerator that he drew in kindergarten of a stick figure little boy standing by a firetruck that says ‘When I grow up, I want to be a fireman!’ He started as a volunteer fireman at Blackman’s Crossroads Fire Department where he learned that this was his true calling. He worked nonstop to take all of the classes and training needed to become a fireman all while pursuing his associates degree. He was hired as a full-time fireman with Fuquay-Varina Fire Department in October 2019, works part time with Four Oaks Fire Department, and continues to volunteer with Blackman’s Crossroads as a fireman and first responder. He is always willing to take on extra shifts for his co-workers and he won’t hesitate to cover holiday shifts when needed. Caleb has the heart of true servant.”
Thank you, Caleb, for your service! We’re sending you a gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do!
