Our Hometown Hero of the week is Scott Barnes, a firefighter from Goldsboro!
Scott was nominated by Brittany who said: What defines a hero? A hero is someone who will lay their own life down to save others. My husband, Scott Barnes is a true definition of a hero. He has been a hardworking, passionate, and dedicated firefighter for over 15 years. He is an Engineer for the City of Goldsboro, a part-time firefighter for the Momeyer Fire Department, and a volunteer firefighter for Cooper’s Fire Department. As you can see, he puts his whole heart into his career. On his days off, he is often found at the fire department volunteering to work on tasks that will bring improvement to help the community. He is also in school at Nash Community college to further his education in the fire service. He is an instructor and a training officer. He has many certifications. He is always willing to take classes to learn new things. He responds to calls when the tone drops. No matter the time, he will be there to help you. I have watched firsthand him bring back people in cardiac arrest, put out fires, and help someone trapped in a car. He goes above and beyond the call of duty. He takes pride in his career and being a role model for younger generations. He is a light when there feels like no hope and will always greet you with kindness and respect. I am thankful that our community and citizens have a dependable hero like him that we can always count on
Thank you, Scott, for your service! We’re sending you a gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do!
