Hometown Hero November 18th: Billy Tart

Hometown Hero November 18th: Billy Tart

Our Hometown Hero of the week is Billy Tart, a nurse from Mount Olive!

Bill was nominated by Sabrina who said: Bill is a nurse who has served for years working in hospitals and as a nurse instructor as the head of the nursing department at WCC. During this pandemic, he has worked 12 hour days to make sure his students can still get their education by making his classes, which are normally in person, mainly online by working hard with his staff to make sure his students get the education they need to enter the workforce well prepared. He has also worked with other community colleges and been working part-time at the hospital to lend a hand where needed. His staff and students have praised his dedication to excellence and hard work to prepare our future nurses for the workforce during this trying time. He is so proud of the nurse graduates and their hard work and success from this past year. He stands strong in his field with years of experience to pass along and leads his team to excellence in education and service by his example, as many of them also work part-time serving the community on top of teaching at the college.

Thank you, Bill, for your service! We’re sending you a gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do!
