Our Hometown Hero of the week is Tyler Jenkins, a firefighter from Rocky Mount!
Tyler was nominated by Mollie who said: This is my husband. He is part of the Rocky Mount Fire Department as well as the Rocky Mount Swiftwater Emergency Rescue Team. Tyler was recently promoted to Fire Engineer and he also volunteers as a firefighter on his days off. Tyler gives his all. He works 24 hour shifts followed by 8-5 shifts doing volunteer work. During bad storms and hurricane season, Tyler deploys with the Swiftwater team to different counties to do water rescues. This has him away from home for days, and sometimes weeks. Tyler also teaches upcoming firefighters in the Fire Academy. Our son is in awe of his dad. He has his own set of turnout gear just like daddy’s. I think Tyler deserves this award due to his dedication to the fire service. All while doing it with a smile.
Thank you, Tyler, for your service! We’re sending you a gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do!
