Congrats to Tucker & Debbie of Cary who will be spending Valentine’s Day at Diamonds Direct with a $5000 Shopping Spree.
Thank you to everyone who shared their amazing love stories with us!
My story doesn’t start out as a love story, but it sure has become one. My wife tragically passed early in 2015 and my family was going on a cruise late November. 23 in the group and only 2 single, her and I. One night we were at a club and I finally mustered the courage to ask her to dance, something I haven’t done in over 25 years, and she said yes! We danced the night away with the amazement of my family and friends. We instantly had a connection. We walked the ship that night till the wee hours and saw one huge star, so I opened a star tracker app on my phone. Low and behold, it wasn’t a star, but Mercury, Venus and Mars all in line! Really? The planets were in line? The cruise was over and I drove to the airport with her and asked if I could have her phone number, so we exchanged numbers.
The problem was I lived in NY and her NC, plus I had 2 teenagers at home and moving wasn’t an option at that time. We talked every day for hours. She had family in NY so she would visit and I would take long weekends and fly, or surprise her with a drive down. Being a widower with 2 kids, living 600 miles away, most women would not go down this road. It took a while for my kids to warm up to her, but happy to say they love and respect her. Fast forward to 2019. Still in NY until both kids graduated high school and since, they both have joined the military. ( very proud dad!) So for 3+ years, we had a pretty awesome long-distance relationship.
She has shown me that I can love again! I work for the government and have 19 years vested, so I applied for many jobs in NC and happily got one at Fort Bragg. I moved here last April, leaving everything and everyone I know and wouldn’t change a thing. She has taught me so much and has made me a better man. I believe that my lost love has sent her to me and my life has changed so much for the better. Fate? Destiny? Call it what you like, but we’re living the good life together in the same state, filled with love, that took almost 4 years
