Marty The One Man Party

I moved here from Charlotte, NC in 2001 and no offense to anyone but I’m glad I’m in Raleigh rather than Charlotte, something just didn’t seem right in that town, I guess Raleigh’s got a more city/country vibe to it than just city like Charlotte?  I still call South Carolina home for right now, I went to high school and played soccer in college in Aiken, SC and then transferred up to the University of South Carolina and graduated in 1999.  GO GAMECOCKS!!! (Especially now that we have Steve Spurrier!)  My family still lives in Aiken and my brothers still live close so I go back a lot.  Mike Wheless & Mike Raley from the Q-Morning Crew have branded me as “The Pride & Joy of Aiken, South Carolina.”  Guess it’s just one of those city names that stand out or it could be the fact that we have an intersection where two of the streets that cross over each other are called Whiskey and Easy? I've accumulated a lot of nicknames over the last couple of years, Marty "The One Man Party", The Bachelor #2, Gas Man, The King of Cary, and many more to come I'm sure!

Soccer by far is my favorite sport, don’t get to play as much as possible but still catch some pick up games and leagues every once in a while.  If you got a team and need a player, let me know!  Yeah, I’m a NASCAR fan, Earnhardt Jr.’s my driver but no I didn’t jump on the band wagon, my dad was an Earnhardt fan for as long as I can remember so I was born into it.  Love playing cards, whether it be drinking games, spades, hearts or most important, Texas Hold 'Em.

I have been spotted flying throughout the Triangle handing out $50 Gas Cards, wait a minute, I mean Gas Man’s a friend of mine and we keep in touch, yeah that’s it.  I listen to everything on our station but I’d have to say some of my favorite artists are Dierks Bentley, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Jason Michael Carroll, Eric Church, Gary Allan, Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson and Montgomery Gentry.  I started working here in April of 2003 as assistant webmaster, after about a year, moved into promotions with QDR and from there, started to work some weekend and part-time shifts on-air.  From there I ended up working the night show for close to 2 years until a spot opened up on the morning show and I just started to fill in until we found someone new but funny thing, I never left!
