Listen as Darius Rucker speaks to Mad Dawg before his show at the Coastal Credit Union Music Park on October 4th.
Q: What do you think about all these flags getting thrown on quarterbacks?
A: “I understand what they’re doing, I don’t like it of course, the game is supposed to be a little bit more physical. But nobody wants to come and see the backup quarterback play. So, they’re trying to keep those guys in the game and keep them healthy.”
Q: Who’s your team?
A: “Big Miami Dolphin fan. We’re 3 and 1 in first place right now, cheated by the Patriots last week. […] We’re going to the Super Bowl this year.”
Q: What’s your best fatherhood advice?
A: “Love them, love them uncontrollably.”
Q: What’s your biggest trick for handling your kids in certain situations?
A: “I say ‘I’m gonna tell your mother.’ […] She’s had to be the disciplinarian over the years …. But if I get mad, they know something is really wrong. If I get mad, it’s not good. […] I made a rule years ago, “If I’m laughing at it, you’re not in trouble.” Because I want to be mad, so if it makes me physically laugh, alright you’re not in trouble. That’s kind of the rule. You want to put the foot down, but if I laugh, that’s on me. You know? Just don’t laugh. Laugh when they leave!”
